Performing Arts
Performances
One of the exciting attractions at Holladay Fine Arts Magnet School is the opportunity for each child to participate in a musical every year. These are produced at grade level and every student participates singing, dancing, creating scenery and props, wearing costumes, and just having a great time doing it all. 5th Graders begin it all with a genuine Broadway musical (the Junior version)! This usually lasts an hour or more and is quite demanding with speaking, singing, and dancing roles, and constant scene changes. Being the most experienced, the 5th graders always present their musical in the early fall - first performance of the school year for all the grades. 3rd and 4th graders put on a 30 minute musical right before the winter holidays to get us in the spirit of the season. 1st and 2nd graders present their musical in March, and our preschoolers and Kinders present a play in May.

Dance/Chorus - "Holladay Performers"
Holladay’s Performance Team is made up of fourteen, 4th and 5th grade students performing musical theatre, jazz, and modern dance routines. They also sing a variety of music that includes favorites such as, "Swinging on a Star" and "Here Comes the Sun", as well as seasonal favorites - "The 12 Days of Halloween", "Pine Cones and Holly Berries", and "Snow Day" to name a few. They rehearse 4 days a week and perform all around Tucson including their school, Holladay K-5 Fine Arts Magnet. Holladay Performers have regularly performed at TUSD’s annual dance concert, usually one of a very few elementary groups among the many middle school and high school dancers. They have brought many smiles to their audiences at the Quincie Douglas Center, The Reid Park Zoo, Baskin and Robbins Ice Cream Store, and Holladay Magnet School.
Piano Keyboarding
Holladay is home to the only keyboard lab in Tucson Unified School District. With 30 electronic keyboards, every child in every class receives the opportunity to learn how to play the piano and practice at their own rate. Every student learns to read music and play a variety of songs on the keyboard. Students meet in the keyboard lab, as a class, once each week and then those students who choose, may extend their keyboard experience by signing up to be in our after school keyboard class.
